Marige system of Togutil tribe
Like many other tribes in indonesia, the togutil tribes have held into their unique marriage system.Considered unique because they marry across their family members that derive from each group. Even if it souds very strange to the common people, the result of their marriage may produce a strong and healthy child in the sense of the biological growth. The reason that they have a strong and healthy child is because their parents feed them with the food taken from nature. Theri food consists of non chemical materials. Their food realies on cassavas and banana trees and they consume the water from the river.

The order story recorded from the togutil tribe is that when a man 'likes' someone else's wife, the 'likes' someone else's wife, the rule is that he should fight her husband and kill him. if the challenger successfully kills his opponent, it means that he will take his wife away from her residence and occupy a 'new' area and develop a new based community. As usual, they plant cassava and bananas near their house, and as a 'sign' that the area belongs to them. After a few months they might decide to leave the area, but with the intention leave the area, but with the intention of returnig one day. They will recognise their land from the house they built and the banana trees they planted. The togutil tribe's daily life is always accompanied by a dog. The dog function to protect their environment from enemies and foreigners.

Universally speaking, the togutil tribes are physically tall, having a big nose, white skin, and look like europeans. They eat baked and raw food. They also suffer from scabies. Halmahera island is one of the worlds last frontiers. Those who have an interest in socio-anthropology or just enjoy seeing a life changing adventure, should not miss a chance to visit this this extraordinary island and these tribes.
