To increase foreign exchange reserves, the government finally freed visa for 45 countries. With the visa exemption, Indonesia targets  tourist traffic levels increased 10 million of previously reached 9 million tourists per year.

Others are Russia, Britain, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Belgium, Sweden, Austria, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Oman and South Africa.

According to Arief, how the visa exemption has been applied first by Malaysia and Thailand. Currently, the number of tourists in the neighboring country reached 27 million per year while Thailand's 26 million per year.

"We are targeting within five years, we will beat the two countries," he said.

The application of this visa will be valid from April 2015. Visa is given for a short stay for 30 days. With the opening of the door to 45 countries, Arief recognizes similar yet valid visa for Indonesian tourists in the country.


"When we open the first, then we'll ask them to do the same," he said.
